We Made It

This week has felt like a month, each day has been five days long and peeling myself out of bed has taken so much energy. The end of term is always a tough time, but throw in the added bonus of theatre shows that require every ounce of energy and strength you have and everyone falling ill, it turns into absolute non stop chaos. I was really struggling with just putting one foot in front of the other mid week, everything just seemed so difficult. I went into auto-pilot mode, work, eat, sleep, repeat. It wasn't until Friday that it hit me that Claire was leaving work. That I wouldn't see her in the hallways or walk down The Rambla with her after work each evening. Sometimes it takes occasions like this to make you wake up and realise how lucky you are. I have such wonderful friends whom I would do anything for, I feel like that is something that has really changed in the past year or so. They are friends who, without me really noticing, saw the real me.

I've always been this outgoing, overly positive, very loud character who is friends with everyone. The thing is, she's a character. She's not the real me. Of course that is part of me, I'm not schizophrenic (not that I have anything against schizophrenic people)  but the more vulnerable side of me, the sensitive, overly caring soul who worries and doubts herself every day rarely makes an appearance. Letting others see the real you is a curious thing, for me it was almost like seeing myself for the first time, if that makes sense? (It's pretty apparent from this blog post that I'm exhausted and in quite the rambling mood...I think I'd better get on with my weekly round up before I start questioning the meaning of life.)

Let's take a look at this weeks photos...

My gym buddy fell ill this week which meant gym-ing alone... It was fine. Absolutely fine but not nearly as much fun.

In an effort to fight the bug doing the rounds at work I hugely upped my fruit and veg intake. It seemed to work, my immune system is improving on such a huge scale. Only a few short months ago I was still catching every tiny bug, cold and flu that anyone who came near to me had.

The king of the house (flat). He's currently in my bad books after staying out all night and bringing me a dead bird this morning. He was very proud of the dead bird which he left on the doormat and meowed until I opened the door this morning. I know that cats believe that they're giving you a present but I have had my fair share of dead mice, lizards, birds, hairbands (?!), bottle tops and paperclips left on the doormat. Can't we just cuddle?

And somehow, we made it to Easter holidays...

A friend messaged me yesterday telling me to have a Easter holiday and to do things I enjoy doing. Usually I'd spend the week doing all of the jobs that REALLY need doing. Like re-decorating my flat, spring cleaning etc. But I've decided that I will make it my mission to do at least one thing that makes me really happy each day during this break and I'll pop a little blog post up every day.

Today I've spent my Sunday spring cleaning, and because last Easter holidays I spent a whole week doing the biggest clean out I've ever done, following the Marie Condo method, it only took me about 6 hours to sort out the rubbish and re-organise and tidy my flat. I then cleaned my little mirror racing boat and started planning this year's veggie patch. I feel like Spring has finally sprung today. Today's happy thing has to be re-potting my house plants into gorgeous metal buckets and the succulents into vintage tea cups. <3
