The National Marine Aquarium

The aquarium is located waterside in Plymouth, Devon. It's a brilliant aquarium with a huge variety of sea life. Home to the biggest native exhibition in the country the National Marine Aquarium has spectacular viewing tank which is so big you feel as if you're at the cinema! DSC04982

One of my favourite exhibitions had to be the jellyfish which honestly surprised me. I'm not usually a fan of those stingy creatures! These small tanks reminded me of that scene in Finding Nemo where Dory bounces on the jellyfish.

Plymouth aquarium also has a Finding Nemo / Dory tank which blew my mind. I didn't think that Clown Fish and Blue Tangs would live in the same waters, however after speaking to Kim, my fish expert friend, she informed me that as long as the tank is big enough they can in fact live together! MIND = BLOWN. Every day's a school day!

Anyway, we wandered around the aquarium for a good few hours. Fraser caught a couple of Pokemon on the rounds and we took in the plethora of different colours and textures that danced before our eyes.

The Eddystone Reef Tank was incredible, it's the largest single viewing panel tank in the UK. I could sit and watch the fish glide past all day long. I also really enjoyed The Atlantic Tank which is houses various species of Rays as well as some awesome sharks and beautiful fish.

This aquarium is very child friendly, the exhibitions all have little steps for small humans to stand on and interactive information points.

After we'd explored a little more we decided to go for a walk whilst munching on some chips doused in salt and vinegar. Yum!

The National Marine Aquarium is a really great day out and one I'd definitely recommend for people of all ages. I know I'll certainly be returning soon!
